I found a Scott Drake HEI Distributor and it looks like a solid deal. Note: Will not fit XD and later Australian 351 Cleveland engines. I am looking to put a '78 302 into a Factory Five Racing '35 Ford Kit Truck, and want a simplified installation. Its crucial to match the distributor gear with the cam material to prevent premature failure of the cam or distributor gear which can lead to engine damage. In the world of modern engine design, its hard to beat a hydraulic roller camshaft for all-around performance. Simple and clean installation with only three wires to connect MSD now offers Ford distributors with steel gears for use with hydraulic roller cams.Does not require an MSD Ignition Control.Supplied with Black Small Diameter Cap with HEI style terminals and race rotor (will accept 8441 Cap-A-Dapt).Nylon pads ensure smooth operation of the advance weights.Advance weight pins are staked and tig welded to the plate.Mechanical advance assembly can be locked out for crank trigger systems.
Advance plate and weights are fine blanked from chrome moly steel and QPQ coated for friction reduction.this is where you want to get the rotor button pointing when you seat the distributor completely, remember the rotor will turn a little as the dist goes in because of the pitch of the gears on the drive. Polished steel shaft is QPQ coated and guided by a sealed ball bearing Find 1 on the dist cap and this refers to the number one piston sparkplug wire.Maintenance-free magnetic pickup and precision reluctor create stable trigger signals throughout the rpm range.Housing is 5/8” smaller in diameter than stock Ford distributors.CNC machined billet aluminum housing and billet aluminum base The pick-up coil in your Ford 302 provides a trigger signal for the ignition system that the ignition module uses to fire the ignition coil.Vacuum advance canister for improved economy (can be locked out).Easy-to-adjust mechanical advance with supplied springs and stop bushings.Powerful built-in module produces a 7.5 amp single spark through high rpm.For protection, there is also an easy-to-set rev limiter! Features: Plus, there is a vacuum advance canister to increase economy on long drives. Different advance springs and stop bushings are supplied so you can easily tune a curve to match your needs. A maintenance-free magnetic pickup is responsible for triggering the high voltage sparks while a sealed ball bearing guides an oversized shaft.īeneath the bolt down cap and MSD race rotor you'll find MSD's accurate mechanical advance assembly. The billet aluminum housings of these distributors are 5/8" smaller in diameter to accommodate induction setups and tight engine compartments. Each distributor features an ignition module that produces a powerful inductive spark to improve combustion of the fuel mixture resulting in quick starts, smooth idle and increased performance. All you need to do is drop it in the engine, connect three wires and fire the engine. These distributors come complete and ready-to-run.
* Must notch hood brace on Early Bronco with no body lift.MSD's Ready-to-Run Ford Distributors are the perfect upgrade for bulky DuraSpark systems or ancient breaker point models. Assembled with upper an d lower bushings (stock Ford distributors have only a single bushing). Incorporates easily found High Energy Ignition (HEI) replacement parts. By eliminating the stock-Ford ballast resistor, more ignition voltage results in improved spark. Each unit includes a high-power coil, a premium hi-dielectric cap awith brass terminals, and a low-saturation ignition module. Offers longer term durability and a higher voltage spark that permits a bigger spark plug gap, resulting in more power and reduced plug fouling. Assembled from precision-made parts for advance curve smoothness. These units offer calibrated advance curves that are optimized for maximum combustion efficiency and for the elimination of detonation damage and throttle ping. Easy to install: just connect one 12-volt hot wire to the distributor (has optional tach hook-up). When installing the distributor, The rotor needs to be pointing at the number 1 cylinder terminal on the cap, which it is.
We primed the oil system and are about to install the distributor.
We built a new engine with the existing block (347).
Comes with An Iron Gear and with Not Work with Factory Roller Cams.
